Confectionery marvel
Oh yea that's what I'm talking about. Freshly baked Krispy Kreme donuts. These babies possess the most warm, fluffy insides, and a thin, sweet & crispy coating. And that's just the original flavor. Let your imaginations run wild with the other flavors. This is something that will make you get a rope, tie it around a tall tree branch and then tie it to your neck if you ever miss it. Sweet.
The assistant chef...
...and the product
One (fine) day, adventure sparked within Zhe Xing and he took on the stove. I'm, well, fine by that. I wonder when it'll become a plural instance though. I need a break.
The Oven Man
Oven man, oven man, does whatever an oven can... And that's Eng Soon, the guy with an affinity for all things oven-ed. He hates veggies, especially purple, leafy ones. He thinks it's our conspiracy to get him to eat his veggies by tricking him into thinking that those aren't veggies. He thinks too much.
QUT Kelvin Grove Busway station
On the bus
Their bus stations (it's actually just a bus stop, but it's like half an MRT station) are really fancy. Within their bus network, they even have dedicated underground routes only for buses. That's just around the city I think. It's like MRT, no traffic, no lights, just stops.
Oops!
Now before you start forming weird ideas, I was on the bus when I took this picture. I wasn't on foot, walking towards it or something ok. Just to straighten things out.
And those are sporadic updates from a few days. So anyway, we headed to the Royal Queensland Show aka Ekka last Saturday. We walked around aimlessly for about 30 minutes, then discovered that we were lost. Wow, huge discovery. In our desperation for directions, we resorted to this:
And then we later discovered that Ekka show guides were on sale at $2 each. Wow, huge discovery, again. The next thing we hunted for was the restrooms. We found one at the Meating Centre, where I chanced upon an auction for choice beef cuts. Suddenly (I think it was an attempt to break the growing boredom of beef), the auctioneer took out some silk ties and started doing his thing with them. Really odd.
Beef auctioneer and silk ties
A few things I stumbled upon:
Fudge in its raw form, with many funky flavors
It can “breathe”! I’d rather get a real one though
Big-ass pendant
Munch time! BBQ sausage & onions
A classic: Dagwood Dog
As one of our friends at ISI describes it, it’s heart-attack-on-a-stick. Oh gosh. Up next, the amusement parks and themed rides. Quite corny I’d say, but hey, it’s for your amusement.
Teddy race
Together, the participants in this race compete by racing their teddy bear to the top of their post. The prize? Yup you guessed it. More teddy bears.
Weird looking gargoyle in front of the “Haunted House”
Ever wondered how a faked smile that failed to cover up the scared shitless look looked like? There you go. It’s especially evident on Zhe Xing’s face.
Before the wicked looking three-armed ride
Before take off; more fake smiles
All strapped in; lesser fake smiles
I zoomed out so as not to reveal the scared shitless look
The calm after the storm; only one enjoyed the storm
That was fun! What’s next?
An overview
I know I know. It’s not exactly an overview, but I could not find an appropriate vantage point. I’m sorry! I’ll try again next year. Who’s coming with me? =D

Competition horses
Tiny tots parade
Energex Community Arena for entertaining shows
Ute showcase
There were a lot of things to see, do and eat at the Ekka. There were competitions, exhibitions, shows, gigs, food, sales, and many more stuff going on. In the evening, we headed to the Energex Community Arena for the evening shows and the closing fireworks.
One of the competitions they had was called Ride and Drive. A horse rider guides his/her horse across a few jumps, dismounts and gets into a souped up Ute, and gets driven around for 1 lap to complete 1 round.
Ride…
…and…
…Drive
The Man from Susan River; this guy has one obedient horse
Another interesting competition was the Tentpegging competition. These guys with their lances ride their horses along the field to pierce small plastic pegs on the ground. More pegs, more luck.
V8 Ute #1
V8 Ute #2
The Legendary Monster Truck
Car crushing stunts
Freestyle Motorcross
Look ma! No legs!
The trio
What an enjoyable weekend! =D

That's a hell load of photos! What lens did you bring over there? The performance photos look as if you captured them with a zoom lens. Colours sure look different and vibrant! Probably because it's Australia or is it your processing?
